The tag “SaveSheikh Jarrah” has crossed the two million tweets barrier, in conjunction with the continuation of the solidarity campaign witnessed by the communication platforms with the Palestinians in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood in the Old City of occupied Jerusalem.
A number of famous people, influencers and leaders around the world participated through the tag, who denounced the injustice that the people of Sheikh Jarrah are subjected to, in light of the occupation’s attempts to force them to leave their homes.
Others accused the occupation forces of committing war crimes and religious and ethnic cleansing, in conjunction with the storming of the Al-Aqsa Mosque, and the night confrontations taking place in a number of areas with the occupation forces and settlers in Jerusalem.
Turkish singer Aynur Aydin expressed her anger in her tweet on Twitter that Israel was committing hate crimes and burning religious sites “during a holy month,” as she put it.
Meanwhile, singer Ahmed Fahmy posted on his Instagram account a picture of solidarity with Jerusalem, accompanied by a comment, “Oh God, protect Jerusalem and its people and all Arab countries.”
As for the poet Abd al-Rahman Yusef, he attached the tag to his verse, “He faces fire with determination, smiling … and God sends supplies from his perches,” with pictures of Palestinians smiling despite the pain.
