Turkish Trade Minister Mehmet Muş said today, Monday, that his country wants to improve trade and economic relations with Egypt in parallel with the development of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
Concurrently, Musch presented positive data on the Turkish economy, including the increase in his country’s exports by 109% last April, by $ 18.8 billion, and the trade deficit by 31.9% in April also to $ 3.1 billion compared to the same month of 2020.
He said it is time to talk about increasing Turkey’s exports to more than $ 200 billion annually.
The Turkish Minister of Trade’s statements came ahead of a visit by a Turkish delegation headed by Sadat Onal, Deputy Foreign Minister, to Cairo this week to discuss the normalization of relations between the two countries.
A week ago, Turkish presidential spokesman Ibrahim Kalin said that the talks that the Turkish delegation will hold in Cairo could result in new cooperation between the two countries, and help in efforts to end the war in Libya.
Kalan talked about contacts between the heads of the intelligence services and the foreign ministers of Turkey and Egypt.
