Real Madrid’s injury crisis continues after its French defender Ferland Mendy suffered a leg injury, due to which he will be absent for the remainder of this season, and then coach Zinedine Zidane’s team was deprived of the efforts of all four key defenders.
This is the latest blow for Real in a season in which the team has suffered many absences, specifically in the defense line, as Mendi is the main left defender of the royal team.
In its medical report on the injury, Real Madrid did not specify a date for Mendy to return to the squad, but the Spanish newspaper “AS” (AS) said that he will be absent for 3 weeks, which means that he will not participate in the team’s three remaining matches this season.
During this season, Real Madrid published 27 medical reports on the cases of infection that its players were exposed to and cases of infection with the Coronavirus.
The team missed an opportunity to stand alone at the top of the league when it drew 2-2 with Seville last Sunday and is currently two points behind leaders Atletico Madrid after 35 games.
Real Madrid will be visiting Granada next Thursday and will be absent from its ranks as well, along with Mendy, the defenders Raphael Varane and Sergio Ramos, in addition to the main right defender Dani Carvajal and the injured defender Lucas Vásquez as well.
Varane may return to the club’s last two matches against Athletic Bilbao and Villarreal, but the rest is expected to remain absent during the remainder of the season.
