The Security Council fails to issue a statement about the events in Jerusalem

For his part, President of the Security Council, Chinese Ambassador Zhang Jun, said ahead of the Security Council’s closed session on the Jerusalem events, that council members should act quickly.

The Chinese diplomat added, tweeting that he should urge the council to de-escalate tensions and reaffirm commitment to the principle of a two-state solution (Palestinian and Israeli).
