Iran revealed that two drafts had been reached during Vienna’s indirect negotiations with the United States on reviving the nuclear deal, while Washington said that there is still a long way to go to return to the nuclear agreement concluded between Tehran and the major powers in 2015.

Zadeh added that an understanding could have been reached a month ago if Washington were ready to lift all the sanctions in a practical way, explaining that the Vienna understandings were based on accepting the lifting of sanctions, noting that the dispute is focused on some figures and entities on the US sanctions list.
On Sunday, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani expected an important breakthrough in the coming weeks regarding sanctions on his country.
Simultaneously, Abbas Araghchi, Iranian assistant foreign minister and chief Iranian negotiator, said that the Vienna negotiations, which began about a month ago with the participation of all parties to the nuclear deal, have reached a stage of maturity and have become more clear.
Araghchi explained that it was agreed to write off a list of individuals and entities subject to US sanctions, and it was also agreed to lift sanctions on sectors, such as energy, finance and ports.
The parties to the nuclear agreement concluded a meeting in the Austrian capital on Saturday at the level of assistant foreign ministers by agreeing to hold a new meeting on May 7, amid Russian and Iranian optimism

A long way
On the other hand, US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan said yesterday, Sunday, that Washington has not reached an agreement in Vienna yet, and that there is a distance that must be traveled to overcome the obstacles.
Sullivan added that diplomats will continue to work in the coming weeks for a mutual return to the agreement and progress. Advertising
In the context, Axios reported that an official in the Israeli Mossad said that US President Joe Biden confirmed to the head of the agency Yossi Cohen in a meeting held last Friday that Washington is not about to return to the Iranian nuclear agreement.
The site quoted Cohen as saying that Biden told him that the United States has a long way to go in talks with Iran, before it agrees to return to full compliance with the nuclear deal.
The Russian envoy Mikhail Ulyanov had said that the talks were moving in the right direction, but he ruled out a breakthrough for now.

No prisoner swap deal
On the other hand, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh denied today that there is a prisoner exchange deal with Washington.
The official Iranian News Agency quoted him as saying that the issue of prisoners has always been on Iran’s agenda, regardless of the issues raised during the nuclear talks.
On Sunday, Iranian media reported news of an Iranian-American agreement to exchange a number of prisoners, including the release of 4 Americans and one British woman, and the recovery of frozen Iranian funds of more than $ 7 billion, but Tehran and Washington denied this news.
While Reuters quoted Iran’s representative to the United Nations Majid Takht Rawanji as saying that the Iranian state television report on a prisoner exchange agreement could not be confirmed, US State Department spokesman Ned Price confirmed that the reports on the agreement with Iran are untrue.
However, the Associated Press reported – citing a source it described as al-Mawlal – that there are active discussions between Iran and the United States regarding the release of prisoners on both sides.
