Minawi appointed governor of the Darfur region
On the other hand, the head of the Sudan Liberation Movement, Minni Arku Minawi, said that his appointment as governor of the Darfur region came in implementation of the peace agreement in Juba, which stipulated the unification of the region into a single government and the application of a federal system of government in Sudan.
Minawi added in an interview with Al-Jazeera that the peace agreement identified a mechanism to arrange the security aspect in the Darfur region with the participation of armed movements and government forces in a joint force.
He indicated that he would work to organize a conference in the region, in which reconciliation between all components would take place.
For his part, a member of the Sudanese Sovereignty Council and head of the Revolutionary Front, which signed the Juba Peace Agreement in Sudan, Al-Hadi Idris, warned that without the unity of the ruling partners, no achievement will be achieved at the end of the transitional period, as he put it.
