The famous German radio station or “Deutsche Welle” (DW) restricted the publication of reports critical of Israel, citing Berlin’s special responsibility towards the Jewish state due to the Holocaust, according to Anadolu Agency.
The Radio Editorial Board prevented its reporters and editors from covering the Israeli government’s crimes of apartheid and the persecution of Palestinians, by submitting new evidence that was sent to the working group as a result of the recent escalation in the region. The two-page internal document, which was leaked and published on social media, confirmed that the legacy of the Holocaust and Germany’s special responsibility towards Israel remain the cornerstones of the country’s constitution and foreign policy.
“We at Deutsche Welle never question Israel’s right to exist as a state, and we do not allow the people in our coverage to do so,” Manuela Casper-Claridge, editor-in-chief, told the staff, according to the leaked document.
“We never refer to the apartheid regime in Israel. We also avoid referring to colonialism or colonialists,” she added.
“We respect freedom of opinion and expression, and the right of people to criticize any of the parties concerned,” she added.
Deutsche Welle has come under fire for its biased reports of the Israeli government’s aggression against Palestinians in the Occupied Territories.

International accusation of apartheid
International human rights organizations continue to accuse the Israeli government of apartheid, systematic oppression and inhuman acts against the Palestinians.
Human Rights Watch said, in a recent report, that the Israeli authorities are committing crimes against humanity, apartheid crimes, and persecution of Palestinians.
“These findings are based on the comprehensive Israeli government policy to maintain the domination of Israeli Jews over the Palestinians and the grave violations committed against Palestinians living in the occupied territories, including East Jerusalem,” the organization stated in its 213-page report, issued last month.
The organization stressed that “the severity of the repression in the occupied territories, including the imposition of harsh military rule on the Palestinians, while Israeli Jews who live separately in the same area are granted their full rights under Israeli civil law that respects civil rights, and amounts to the systematic repression required.” To achieve apartheid. “
Israeli air strikes on Gaza
During the Israeli attacks on Gaza since last week, at least 200 Palestinians were killed, including 59 children and 35 women, and more than 1,305 others were injured, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health. Dozens of buildings were also destroyed or damaged in the Israeli attack.
Ten Israelis were killed by rockets fired from the Gaza Strip.
The recent tensions that began in East Jerusalem during the holy month of Ramadan extended to Gaza as a result of the Israeli attacks on worshipers in the Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood.
It is noteworthy that Israel occupied East Jerusalem, where the Al-Aqsa Mosque is located, during the 1967 Arab-Israeli war, and annexed the entire city of Jerusalem in 1980, in a move not recognized by the international community.
