The Israeli occupation forces impeded the arrival of worshipers to the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque on the third Friday of the month of Ramadan, as worshipers poured into the military checkpoints in the occupied West Bank, leading to the Holy City, since the dawn hours, but the authorities allowed a limited number to enter.
Eyewitnesses reported that the occupation forces closed the checkpoints surrounding occupied Jerusalem, and large forces of the occupation army spread inside the Jerusalem neighborhoods and hindered the movement of citizens and their vehicles, forcing them to walk long distances to reach Al-Aqsa Mosque.
Inside the Old City of Occupied Jerusalem – according to witnesses – the occupation forces set up iron barriers and checked the identities of passers-by in the lanes and alleys of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, and detained a number of them on the pretext that they did not obtain entry permits to Jerusalem, which prevents most of them from participating in the performance of Friday prayers.
The Israeli occupation authorities stipulated that those wishing to pray in the mosque obtain the anti-corona virus vaccine, which deprived thousands of access to the mosque, noting that there are not sufficient quantities of vaccines available in the West Bank, as vaccination is limited to those with chronic diseases, and those over the age of sixty According to the Palestinian Ministry of Health.
Despite all the occupation measures, numbers of worshipers were able to enter Al-Aqsa Mosque from its various doors, amid tireless work by the regime committees and Islamic endowments to implement safety measures to protect worshipers from the spread of the Corona virus.
It is noteworthy that for many years, the occupation authorities restricted the performance of prayers in the Al-Aqsa Mosque to residents of East Jerusalem, 48 Palestinians, and a limited number of West Bank Palestinians who obtained special permits, while residents of the Gaza Strip were prevented from accessing the mosque.
