The channel indicated that he held talks with senior Jordanian officials to dispel the tension, which the relations between the two sides witnessed in the recent period.
About two months ago, the Israeli authorities obstructed the arrival of the Jordanian Crown Prince, Prince Hussein bin Abdullah II, to the Al-Aqsa Mosque, and Jordan responded by preventing a plane carrying Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu from crossing his airspace while he was heading to the UAE.
The tension extended to the issue of water supplies that Israel would transfer to Jordan under the Wadi Araba agreement, as Israeli media said last month that Netanyahu had, for weeks, unusually, postponed granting the green light to transfer additional water supplies requested by Jordan.
The Israeli website “Walla” said that Netanyahu decided in the end to accept the Jordanian request in light of American demands and pressure from the Israeli security services.
Tensions have emerged between the two sides since last year, in the wake of the launch of the normalization train in the region, and Netanyahu hinted at going to remove the Jordanian Hashemite tutelage from administering holy sites in occupied Jerusalem.
Israeli analysts expressed concern about Netanyahu’s approach, and saw that it threatens the stability of the peace agreement with Jordan due to the background of personal enmity between him and King Abdullah, according to their saying.
