Today, Wednesday, the Syrian News Agency (SANA) reported that a civilian was killed and 6 others were injured as a result of Israeli shelling southwest of Lattakia, while local residents reported hearing explosions in different areas.
SANA quoted a military source as saying that “around 02:18 am today, the Israeli enemy carried out an air attack from the direction of southwest Latakia, targeting some points in the coastal area.”
The source added, “Our air defense media confronted the aggression’s missiles and dropped some of them.”
He explained that “the Israeli aggression led to the death of a civilian and wounding 6 others, including a child and his mother, in an initial outcome, in addition to some material losses, including a civilian facility for the manufacture of plastic materials.”
The official SANA agency reported that the attack, which occurred early today, Wednesday, hit the town of Al-Haffah, east of Latakia and Masyaf, in Hama governorate.
She said that “the sounds that were heard in the sky of Lattakia and Tartous were caused by the air defenses confronting enemy targets.”
For its part, the German News Agency quoted local residents as saying that several explosions were heard in the vicinity of the city of Latakia.
These residents confirmed that the sounds of faraway explosions were heard in the vicinity of the city, and that one of them occurred near the village of Ras Shamra, north of the city, and that fire was seen in the place. Advertising
Ras Shamra is located 12 km north of the coastal city of Latakia.
It is noteworthy that, in recent months, Israel has escalated its air attacks on sites in Syria, where Iranian-backed factions are present.
