The Mughrabi Gate (one of the doors of the Al-Aqsa Mosque) was closed today, Sunday, after 101 extremists stormed the mosque’s courtyards, in violation of a decision that prevented them from storming Al-Aqsa in the last ten days of the month of Ramadan, which has been in place for years, claiming that the storming took place in coordination and not by force.
The organizations of the alleged Temple, through social platforms, called on their supporters to storm Al-Aqsa today to perform biblical prayers inside it for the souls of the dozens of those who were killed in the incident of Jabal Al-Jarmaq two days ago. Professor of Jerusalem Studies at Istanbul May 29 University, and the former Media and Public Relations Officer at Al-Aqsa Mosque, Abdullah Maarouf, said that attempts to storm the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque in the last ten days of Ramadan have been on the table of extremist temple groups since 2011, but they were powerless. Its implementation due to the circumstances surrounding the region and the absolute refusal to implement this agenda.

Popular confrontations
He added that until 2015, extremists were prevented from storming the Al-Aqsa Mosque in the last ten days of Ramadan and the whole days of Eid Al-Fitr, but attempts to penetrate the last ten days of Ramadan began in 2016 at the beginning of the last ten days, when a number of extremists stormed the mosque and this led to the outbreak of popular confrontations in Jerusalem. Then, I prompted the then Minister of Internal Security, Gilad Ardan, to back off and stop the incursions for the last ten days and the holiday.
In 2017 and 2018, settlers also tried to storm the mosque in the early days of the last ten days of Ramadan, and confrontations flared up again and led to the cessation of the operation days later, and in those years the occupation tried to establish the equation of opening the mosque at least in the last half of the ten days of Ramadan and closing it after that.
But the occupation – according to what is known – worked in 2019 to violate that, and opened the mosque on the first of the last ten days, then reopened the mosque to extremists on Ramadan 28, as it coincided that day with the so-called “Day of the Unification of Jerusalem.”
In 2020, there were no incursions due to the closure of the mosque during the month of Ramadan due to the Corona pandemic, and Maarouf indicated that the occupation is dealing with the issue this year, given that the idea of opening the Al-Aqsa Mosque in the last ten days of Ramadan has become a fait accompli, leading to the height of the planned incursions. The current day of Ramadan, 28 accompanied by public prayers inside the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque.
Maarouf described what is happening in Al-Aqsa Mosque today as a disaster, asking, “Where is the Supreme Council of Endowments and the Endowment Department from what is happening and the claims of extremists?”

No coordination
Al-Jazeera Net went to the head of the Islamic Endowments Council in Jerusalem, Abdel-Azim Salhab, who said that the occupation authorities were intrusive in their attacks on Al-Aqsa, violating its sanctity and employing its settlers in all circumstances to desecrate it.
He added that what the occupation has done today in sending extremists to the mosque, is a violation of its sanctity and portends misfortune and danger, stressing that the entry of tourists and non-Muslims used to stop during the month of Ramadan, but that the occupation is now determined to carry out incursions in the last ten days specifically, which cannot be tolerated. . In response to the extremists’ claims that their storming took place today with coordination and not by force, Salhab said that there could be no approval from the Waqf for the storming because it considers the entry of these people throughout the year an assault on Al-Aqsa and its rights.
He added, “The recent attacks on the mosque threaten very great dangers, and we warn and say that Al-Aqsa is a sensitive spot and that any attack on it may blow up the region, and other parts of the world may be affected by this racist policy in which the occupation attacks the people’s sanctities and beliefs.”
