Head of the Political Bureau of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) Ismail Haniyeh said that the resistance is determined to defend the Palestinian people and their sanctities and repel aggression, at a time when the movement denied the existence of offices in the evacuation tower in the Gaza Strip, which was destroyed by the Israeli army.
Haniyeh stressed that the resistance knows the way to achieve the goals of the Palestinian people in Gaza, Jerusalem and everywhere. Read also Destroying the evacuation tower in Gaza .. Haniyeh had confirmed in a telephone conversation with Al-Azhar Sheikh Ahmed Al-Tayeb yesterday, Monday, the steadfastness of the Palestinian people, and that he would continue to protect the Al-Aqsa Mosque and the holy sites.
On the other hand, Hamas spokesman Fawzi Barhoum categorically denied the claims of the Israeli occupation that the movement had offices in the evacuation tower in Gaza.
Barhoum added that the occupation’s allegations aim to justify the crime of targeting a civilian tower, pointing out that this targeting comes within a series of war crimes committed by the occupation.
Last Saturday afternoon, the occupation aircraft targeted the Al-Galaa Tower, which houses the Al-Jazeera network headquarters in Gaza, with a series of raids that led to its complete collapse.
The Israeli army said that there were civilian media offices in the tower that “were covering up from behind Hamas and using them as human shields.”
Before the bombing of the evacuation tower – which also includes among the media the Associated Press of America – an Israeli intelligence officer refused to allow the employees in the tower to return to take out some of their possessions and media work tools, as the officer gave them – in a phone call – only a few minutes.
The tower – which is among the oldest in the sector – contained 60 apartments, in which families lived, and professional classes of lawyers, doctors and others worked in it.
The Ministry of Works said that “more than 10 thousand housing units were damaged as a result of the ongoing aggression, of which 800 were completely destroyed.”
The number of buildings that were bombed by the occupation forces in the Gaza Strip reached 90 buildings, including 6 residential towers, 3 of which were completely destroyed.
Since April 13, the situation in the Palestinian territories has exploded as a result of the assaults committed by the Israeli police and settlers in Jerusalem, the Al-Aqsa Mosque and its environs, and the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood, following Israeli efforts to evacuate 12 Palestinian families and hand them over to settlers.
