Tunisian Health Minister Faouzi Mahdi warned of a third wave of the Corona virus, after 144 cases of the mutated British strain were recorded in the country, while the President of Argentina announced that he had been infected with the virus.
In a press conference in the capital Tunis, Mahdi said that in recent weeks it had been observed that the positive rate of corona tests had risen to more than 19%.
The Tunisian minister called in a press conference yesterday, Friday, for the implementation of preventive measures, in light of the escalation in the number of infections and deaths from the Corona virus, and the increase in the number of residents in intensive care departments.
On March 13, Tunisia launched a vaccination campaign against Corona, using the Russian “Sputnik V” vaccine, as it contracted 500,000 doses of it.
Earlier Friday, 84,000 doses of the German-American “Pfizer-BioNTech” vaccine arrived in Tunisia, out of two million doses, which will reach the country later.
According to the latest official toll, Corona injuries in Tunisia amounted to 255,308; Among them were 8 thousand and 843 deaths, and 217 thousand and 928 cases recovered.
“Covid-19” has killed more than 2.8 million people in the world, and the highest deaths were recorded in the United States and Brazil, which counted a record number of deaths last month.
