The Iranian official noted that the Vienna negotiations in which the parties to the nuclear deal participate, including the United States, which withdrew from the agreement in 2018, are going in a wobbly fashion, between progress and differences, but he saw that this indicates the seriousness of the negotiations that began early April last year. .

The speaker of the Iranian parliament said that those he described as enemies should realize that delaying the return to the agreement would not be in their interest.

Concurrently, a member of the Presidency in the Iranian Parliament, Ahmed Amir Abadi Farahani, said that the deputies confirmed in Sunday’s session that the ongoing nuclear talks in Vienna would not harm Iran’s interests.

Rouhani added that the Americans and Europeans are aware that they have no choice but to lift the sanctions and return to the nuclear agreement, stressing that they have explicitly announced this.

In simultaneous statements, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said that the responsibility for returning to the nuclear deal rests with the United States, not Iran.

Zarif added that Washington bears responsibility for all the repercussions and burdens since the “clown president” violated America’s obligations in the nuclear deal, and this meant former US President Donald Trump, who withdrew from the nuclear agreement in 2018, and then reimposed previous sanctions on Iran.

As for the chief Iranian negotiator, Abbas Araghchi, said yesterday, Saturday, that he hopes that the nuclear negotiations will progress in Vienna so that there is no need to extend the deadline of the agreement between Tehran and the International Atomic Energy Agency regarding inspections of Iranian nuclear facilities.

Araghchi added that Tehran would study extending this agreement, if necessary, in time before it expires on May 24.

Ulyanov had previously said that the fourth round, which started on Friday, could be the last, adding that if the need arose, negotiators might decide to take a new break to obtain more instructions from the capitals of their countries.

Days ago, a senior US State Department official said that an understanding could be reached within weeks on how Washington and Tehran would resume their compliance with the nuclear deal, but he believed that it depends on Iran making a political decision to do so.

He added that Washington does not want to invent a new nuclear agreement with Iran, but rather wants to comply with and improve the existing agreement, adding that the last three rounds of Vienna talks clarified the most steps that should be taken to return to the nuclear agreement.

Regarding the nature of the current differences regarding the sanctions imposed on Iran, sources clarified that Tehran rejects an American offer to lift the sanctions imposed by Washington over the nuclear file, without other sanctions.

Among the main differences existing in the Vienna talks are related to the fate of the new and advanced centrifuges that allow Tehran to enrich uranium more quickly, according to what was previously reported by the US site, Axios, from a European diplomatic source.
