Jaishankar wrote – on Twitter – saying, “We learned yesterday about contact with suspected cases of Covid-19, and as a precaution and in the interest of others I decided to participate remotely, and this will be the case with the G7 meetings today as well.”

The Indian delegation

For its part, the British government said – today, Wednesday – that all members of the Indian delegation – participating in the summit of the Group of Seven major industrialized countries in London – have isolated themselves after tests confirmed that two of them were infected with Covid-19.

A British official stated that “two of the members of the delegation have tested positive, so the entire delegation is now isolating itself.”

“The summit was possible after imposing a strict set of anti-Corona measures, including daily examination of all delegations,” the official added.

Diplomats from the Group of Seven are meeting in London for their first face-to-face gathering in two years.

It is noteworthy that India is not a member of the group, but today it was invited along with South Korea, Australia and South Africa as guests for the second day of the summit meetings.
