America has sought to maintain its dominance and military supremacy, not only by land, sea and air, but also in the outer and electronic spaces. Is the world on the threshold of a new era of conflict in preparation for fighting different and unconventional wars?
In this regard, the “Scenarios” program (5/6/2021) followed Washington’s fears of losing its advantage and its deterrent power after the emergence of China and Russia as two competing powers capable of challenging America and its allies in some hot spots. Rapid technological progress – especially in the cyber field – has begun It changes the rules of the game.
This is what prompted US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin to talk about the need to develop a new defense vision, and prepare for a potential conflict that does not resemble much of the old wars.
For his part, the military and strategic expert, Elias Hanna, said that there are new methods that have not been tested in a real war, indicating that all parties are preparing for a war of unknown shape and content, due to the change in the global balance after the rise of China as a technological, military and economic power.
He added that the speed of China’s armament places new burdens on America, questioning the method of fighting the combined forces with new technology to implement and achieve the geopolitical goals set by US President Joe Biden.
On the other hand, Mark Kimmitt, the former assistant commander of US forces in Iraq, considered that America is technologically advanced to China and Russia, but the enemy could infiltrate from the opponent’s weak point.
He explained that the coming wars will not use conventional military mechanisms, but rather unmanned aircraft, guided vehicles and remote cyber capabilities.
He stressed that the countries of the world will witness more independent military capabilities, in the form of autonomous ships, fighter planes and war robots, wondering if the machines can be relied on in wars far away from America.
For his part, Lawrence Friedman, professor of war studies at King’s College University, said that talking about future wars is a description of a situation in which the system is tested and tried, indicating that the test may not happen, but sometimes it is an integrated deterrent to prevent access to war.
He added that the US military capabilities must be tested by China, because Russia is a declining power unlike China, so Beijing ranks first because it has the economic momentum and greatly enhances its military capabilities.
