Al-Ahly Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, escaped home loss to Al-Duhail, Qatar, and drew 1-1 with a deadly goal in the last minute, in an exciting showdown today, Sunday in the second round of Group C matches in the AFC Champions League group stage, which saw Iran’s independence 3-0 win over Iraqi police.
Kenyan Michael Olonga scored for Al-Duhail in the 53rd minute, but veteran Syrian star Omar Al-Somah scored the deadly equalizer for Al-Ahly Jeddah in the 90th minute, so each team got a point.
Al-Istiqlal was the only one to lead the group with 6 points, achieving the full score after winning their second game in a row, two points clear of Al-Duhail’s closest pursuers.
Al-Ahly Jeddah came in third with a point, while Police remained in last place without a points score, after receiving their second straight loss.
