A Palestinian girl was almost buried alive

She did not carry Aisha’s name yet, a simple movement of the fingers of her little hand brought her back to life before she was shrouded and prepared for burial in the town of As Samu, south of Hebron, in the southern West Bank, after a doctor in a Palestinian hospital confirmed her death.

Doctors also told the family that the life of the mother and the fetus were at risk if the delivery did not take place, and that the mother’s survival could be harmful to the health of the fetus. Muhib Fareej Al-Badareen (34 years), the father of Aisha, told Al-Jazeera Net that he received his daughter, who did not have a name yet, weighing about 500 grams, placed in a small carton, as deceased shortly after her birth. To help him wash her, shroud her, and bury her according to Islamic law, as she became a full-fledged child.

Majestic stuttered while talking to us about the details of the incident, and told Al-Jazeera Net that he was in a state of shock about what had happened, because he almost buried his daughter while she was alive, and although she was the seventh child to him and his wife Maryam 30 years old, he insisted on calling her Aisha because she came back to life again. And it moved to live despite everyone’s nose.

Aisha gained extra weight in the incubator in the preterm section of the hospital, and she reached a weight of 650 grams after 5 days of her life, and the medical devices connected to her show that the percentage of oxygen is 100%, and that her breathing is good as well.

We contacted Dr. Naji Nazal, Director General of Hospitals at the Ministry of Health, and he said that the case was followed up by communicating with the family and hearing their story, confirming to Al-Jazeera Net that the ministry has opened an investigation into the accident, with the participation of specialists in this field. Nazzal indicated that there is a technical defect in the procedures followed in declaring the death, and that there is a certain negligence that will be determined by the investigation committee that will approve the punishment of every person related to this case.

And the most important thing – as for Nazzal, as he told Al-Jazeera Net – that Aisha and her mother’s health status is good and stable, and that the investigation committee will issue recommendations to implement the followed protocols so that no similar incidents will recur in the future.
